Rubio: TRIPP could open path to peace for Armenia, South Caucasus
US State Secretary Marco Rubio has said that the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) could pave the way for peace in Armenia and the wider South Caucasus region during a brief visit to Yerevan.
Speaking at a joint briefing with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at Zvartnots Airport, where he also took part in the signing of cooperation documents under the TRIPP project focused on mineral extraction and processing, Rubio noted the agreement marks a historic step and a potential pathway toward stability in the region, Caliber.Az reports via Armenia media.
He also emphasised that the agreement reflects broader US-Armenian cooperation.
Rubio said he was honoured to sign the cooperation agreement and described the initiative as part of efforts to build a path to peace for Armenia and the region.
The US secretary of state also said cooperation between the two countries would extend beyond the minerals sector, adding that the development of critical mineral resources was central to economic independence and access to new technologies in the 21st century.
Rubio noted that the agreement would support efforts to ensure reliable access to critical minerals for both Armenia and the United States, framing the partnership as strategically important for both economies.
He also praised the Armenian delegation’s work, saying it was contributing to a better future for the country, and expressed Washington’s readiness to expand cooperation further.
