Russia’s international reserves down by almost $25 billion for month

Russia's international reserves reached $540.688 billion as of October 1, 2022.

The volume decreased by 4.41 per cent or by $24.972 billion compared to the volume as of early September 2022, the Central Bank of Russia said.

Thus, the volume of international reserves “under the influence of negative revaluation” decreased by 1.6 per cent (by $9 billion) and amounted to $540.7 billion on September 30.

The volume of reserves reached an all-time high of $643.2 billion on February 18, 2022 and then began to decline.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in March 2022 that half of Russia's gold and foreign exchange reserves ($300 billion out of $640 billion) were frozen due to sanctions.
