Türkiye’s first floating gas platform Osman Gazi arrives in Filyos Port in Black Sea

31 May 2025 16:01

The first Turkish floating gas production platform, Osman Gazi, has docked at the Port of Filyos (Filyos Limanı) on Türkiye’s Black Sea coast in Zonguldak Province.

The platform was welcomed at the port by Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies from Zonguldak, Hamet Çolakoğlu and Muammer Avcı, and the party’s provincial chairman, Mustafa Çağlayan, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Also present were Cem Erdem — board member and CEO of TP-OTC, a subsidiary of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) — and other officials.

On May 29, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan saw off the country’s first floating gas production platform, Osman Gazi, as it departed for the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea.

The Osman Gazi platform is expected to double the volume of natural gas production in the Black Sea.

The platform measures 298.5 meters in length, 56 meters in width, and 29.5 meters in height. It is designed to accommodate up to 140 personnel. Its maximum gas processing capacity is 10.5 million cubic meters per day, and it can transfer up to 10 million cubic meters per day.

A 161-kilometre main pipeline connects the platform to the shore. Processed gas from the platform will be transported via this line to land and supplied directly to the national energy grid, ready for consumption.

Earlier, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, had announced that the Osman Gazi platform would pass through the Bosphorus on May 29 — the anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul.
