Russia's population shrinks by over 500,000 in one year

As of January 1, 2023, 146,424,729 people live in Russia; over the year, the population decreased by 555,332 people.

As of January 1, 2022, the population of Russia was 146,980,061 people, Gazeta.Ru informs, citing preliminary data from Rosstat.

According to Rosstat, the urban population in the country is almost 109.6 million people, and the rural population is about 36.8 million people.
