Russia’s UAV attack on Kryvyi Rih traps miners underground Photo
On January 22, a drone attack in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, caused a power outage at one of the city’s mines, leaving miners trapped at depths of 1,135 metres, 865 metres, and 475 metres according to the State Emergency Service.
Mountain rescue teams evacuated the trapped miners on foot through vertical and inclined underground passages, covering nearly seven kilometres under specialist supervision. The operation lasted six hours and successfully brought all workers to safety, Caliber.Az reports.
Shortly after midnight, a second power outage affected another mine, where 92 workers were present. Rescuers this time employed a counterweight system to lift the miners to the surface. The operation was completed in four hours, with all personnel safely evacuated.
