Russia sends diplomatic note to Sweden due to desecration of memorial stone
The Russian embassy in Sweden has sent a diplomatic note to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs because a stone erected in memory of Soviet soldiers in the Karlsvik locality of the Luleå municipality in northern Sweden was desecrated.
“The memorial stone to Soviet military personnel, installed in 2015 by the embassy together with the municipal authorities on the site of the transit camp through which former Soviet prisoners of war returned from Norway to the USSR, was shamelessly desecrated by supporters of the Kyiv regime. We are saddened that Bandera’s supporters in Sweden can behave as those supported by Zelenskyy’s gang. We sent a diplomatic note to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. We demanded that the monument should be restored, this outrageous incident should be investigated, those responsible should be found and punished, the Russian and Soviet military graves should be protected in Sweden,” TASS reports citing the embassy.
The embassy did not disclose the details of the incident, but reminded that for such actions the Swedish criminal code envisages compensation for damage, payment of a fine or imprisonment from six months to four years. Presumably, the monument was doused with paint.
“We hope that the memorial will be restored as soon as possible, and the offenders will not be allowed to commit such crimes in the future!” the message says.
