US-Iran talks skip over enriched uranium transfer issue

The US representatives have not raised the issue of Iran's uranium transfer during the recent talks. 

“The issue of transferring highly enriched uranium out of Iran ‘has not been raised at all’ in the Iran-US talks, and Washington has not made any demands regarding zero enrichment. Uranium enrichment is not among the points of contention in the negotiations," Caliber.Az reports, citing the message of the Iranian media on X.

In 2015, a nuclear deal was signed among Iran, Russia, China, the UK, Germany, France, and the US, which included the lifting of sanctions in exchange for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programme.

In 2018, the US withdrew from the agreement and reinstated sanctions, prompting Iran to begin scaling back its commitments, including limitations on research and uranium enrichment levels. 

The third round of indirect talks between Iran and the US on the nuclear programme previously took place in Muscat. Iranian authorities included a special "Sanctions Relief Expert Group" as part of the delegation that traveled to Oman for these negotiations.
