Armenia reveals details of conscript's death in Syunik UPDATE
The Armenian National Security Service has provided details regarding the death of a conscript soldier in the Syunik region (historically known as Zangezur).
The border guard did not die from a landmine explosion, as initially suggested, but from a fatal gunshot wound inflicted by his assigned rifle, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
"A conscript soldier from one of the National Security Service’s border units, identified as A.A., reportedly died from a gunshot wound caused by a shot fired from his assigned weapon," the security service stated.
An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident, with a criminal case now underway.

Earlier, an Armenian soldier was injured in a landmine explosion near the border with Azerbaijan. The incident occurred in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province, in the vicinity of the village of Bashkend.
“A serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces sustained injuries as a result of a mine explosion,” Defence Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan told reporters.
He added that the soldier’s life was not in danger and that he was under medical supervision.
