Russia targets Odesa’s civilian infrastructure in overnight drone raid

02 December 2025 12:00

Russian forces launched another overnight attack on Odesa Oblast using Shahed attack drones, damaging an energy facility and an administrative building and causing widespread disruptions to the electricity supply.

“The enemy launched yet another large-scale strike overnight on the south of Odesa Oblast using Shahed-type UAVs. The targets were once again civilian and energy infrastructure facilities. Despite the active work of air defence, damage has been caused: an energy facility, an administrative building and several houses have been affected,” reported Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Kiper said firefighters quickly extinguished the resulting blaze, but the strike still triggered power outages across parts of the region. “A municipal response headquarters is working at the scene. Critical infrastructure is temporarily running on generators. A total of 11 invincibility centres have been deployed to assist the population,” he added. Invincibility centres are heated facilities equipped with food, charging points, and basic necessities for residents affected by power cuts.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the attack. Emergency teams and energy workers continue efforts to restore full power to the affected areas.

According to the regional administration, on December 2 at 00:25 an air-raid alert was declared in the Odessa region. Unmanned aerial vehicles were observed moving in a southern direction from the Black Sea. At 01:06 drones passed by Katlabuh in the direction of Izmail and Reni, and at 01:18 they changed course to Bolhrad. The alarm was lifted at 02:02.

In the Izmail district, the regional military administration reported that due to the attack a portion of the Safianivska community and the city of Izmail were left without power. Currently, specialists are working to restore energy supply.

The region continues to monitor the situation and coordinate the actions of services aimed at minimizing the consequences of the strikes and supporting those affected.
