Russia warns Armenia over potential EAEU risks amid gas supply tensions
Russia has warned that Armenia could face increasing difficulties within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with particular concern over energy supplies and political alignment.
Russia’s Minister of Economic Development, Maksim Reshetnikov, said gas supply issues were becoming a “particularly sensitive” area in relations with Armenia, cautioning that failure to manage the situation could lead to negative consequences within the bloc.
“The more sensitive issues will be related to gas. The task is to prevent negative developments,” Reshetnikov told the Russian newspaper Izvestia in an interview.
He also suggested that Armenia’s current policy trajectory could ultimately call into question its continued participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, a Russia-led economic integration bloc that also includes several post-Soviet states.
