Russian foreign ministry declares OSCE in crisis Amid deteriorating cooperation
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is facing a significant crisis as it strays from its foundational objectives, Igor Kapyrin, Deputy Director of Russian Foreign Ministry's department for pan-European cooperation said.
In his remarks, Kapyrin asserted that the current landscape in Europe lacks both cooperation and security, leaving no platform for meaningful dialogue on these pressing issues, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Kapyrin highlighted the reluctance of Russia's former partners to engage in constructive discussions, despite the OSCE’s intended role as a facilitator. He pointed to recent incidents, such as the denial of visas to Russian representatives for the economic and environmental forum in Prague, as emblematic of the growing divide. He also noted that complications within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly prompted Russia's Federal Assembly to suspend its participation in the forum.
Despite these challenges, Kapyrin affirmed Russia's continued commitment to collaboration with its partners and allies through the OSCE framework, describing it as a valuable platform for engagement.
