Russian tourists spend $467.9 million in Georgia since early 2022
Tourists from Russia became leaders among all travellers who visited Georgia this year, spending a record $467.9 million from January to August.
"For eight months of 2022, the expenses of tourists from Russia to Georgia amounted to $467.9 million, travellers from Belarus - $189 million. Tourists from EU countries spent $ 215 million, while travellers from Israel spent $170 million," Business Media Georgia reports with reference to the data of the National Bank of Georgia.
In total, from January to August 2022, Georgia's tourism revenue amounted to $2.1 billion. It is noted that it has almost equalled the indicators of the pre-pandemic period. In August alone, Georgia received revenue of $523 million, which is $110 million more compared to the figures for the same month of 2019.
