Serbia rejects US pressure to impose sanctions on Russia President Vučić confirms
Serbia has no plans to impose sanctions on Russia, despite potential threats of restrictions on its oil industry, which is partially owned by Russia's Gazprom Neft.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić made this statement, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining the country's current policy, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"Would someone want us to impose sanctions against Russia? I wouldn't rule it out. As president of Serbia and chairman of the National Security Council, I am not prepared to discuss potential sanctions against Moscow at this time."
Vucic highlighted that Serbia has managed to avoid imposing sanctions on Russia for nearly three years, despite external pressures. "I will do everything in my power to maintain this stance and not alter our policy," he assured.
The Serbian president also noted that sanctions could be introduced as soon as January 1, prompting the need for ongoing negotiations with both the United States and Russia to address the situation.
