Skype gets fresh look becoming more of modern instant messenger
Microsoft announced the release of the updated Skype 8.93 client for all available platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and iOS, and the web version of the service has also been updated.
Some New properties only available in mobile versions of the app, Tech News Space reports.
The Android version of Skype has got a “Today” tab that offers news and various current trends – in this way the messenger is somewhat similar to Telegram. Mobile client users can now add each other to contacts using a QR code, and the video call interface has undergone some changes. Mobile and desktop versions of the application allow you to configure caller ID (subscriber ID); In the settings it was also possible to adjust the colors of the user interface.
The developer recalled the features of machine translation, which works in real time: the application can pronounce the translation in the interlocutor’s voice or display it as subtitles. Previously found bugs have also been fixed.
Microsoft is now actively promoting corporate messenger teams and transferring them to a paid basis, but the company also does not plan to close Skype for ordinary users – the application is updated every month.
