South Korean president makes unannounced visit to Kyiv
South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol has arrived in Kyiv, Yonhap reports citing the press service of the head of state.
According to the agency, there were no official statements about the visit of the South Korean leader, so it is considered unannounced.
"According to the president's senior press secretary Kim Eun-hye, Yoon Seok-yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee arrived in Ukraine after a visit to Poland. As part of the visit, the South Korean president will visit Bucha and Irpin near Kyiv. He plans to lay a wreath at a monument to the conflict before a summit meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky," the report said.
As Yonhap notes, the trip to Ukraine will be the final chord in Yoon Seok-yeol's two-stage mini-tour. The agency stresses that the South Korean president first visited Lithuania, where he took part in the North Atlantic Alliance summit, and then came to Warsaw on an official visit. By the way, a number of South Korean mass media did not rule out that Yun Seok-yeol might visit Kyiv as part of his trip, but the country's authorities denied the existence of such plans.
