Türkiye inducts TAYFUN Block-2 ballistic missile into military arsenal
Türkiye has formally inducted its domestically developed TAYFUN Block-2 ballistic missile into the inventory of its armed forces, marking a significant step in the country’s ongoing defence modernisation efforts.
According to TRT Haber, the TAYFUN Block-2 has been officially adopted into service for the first time as part of a broader package of newly delivered military systems. Alongside the missile, the Turkish Armed Forces have also received the Fırtına-2 self-propelled howitzer, the Akıncı TİHA strike unmanned aerial vehicle, and the domestically produced MPT-76 infantry rifle.
The announcement also confirmed progress in Türkiye’s naval defence sector. The seventh unit of the nationally developed “Denizhan” naval artillery system has been completed and delivered for installation on the tenth vessel of the MİLGEM warship program.
The TAYFUN Block-2 missile is reported to have a range exceeding 500 kilometres and to operate at hypersonic speeds, with a high degree of accuracy in targeting. It is designed for strikes against critical military infrastructure and is engineered for mobility and survivability, including resistance to electronic warfare systems. The missile is also capable of operating effectively under a wide range of weather conditions.
