SpaceX’s Starlink subscribers exceed 400,000
The number of Starlink satellite Internet subscribers of SpaceX exceeded 400,000.
Such data was provided by the SpaceX company to the Federal Communications Commission, according to CNBC.
Starlink's service is active in 48 U.S. states, the satellite network is available in 36 countries so far and the company is aiming to expand service to most of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East next year.
An availability map on SpaceX’s Starlink website now shows only a handful of countries where the service is not listed as “coming soon:” Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, China, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, and Venezuela.
The company started operation in October 2020. By the beginning of 2022, the number of subscribers reached 145,000, and by March of the same year – 250,000.
Starlink is Elon Musk's global high-speed satellite internet project. Its main advantages should be the availability and low signal delay, and therefore the satellites are placed in low orbits.
In this regard, to completely cover the Earth, there must be a lot of satellites, tens of thousands, of which about two thousand have already been launched.
