Spain aims to contribute to global peace efforts in 2025, says foreign minister
Spain’s diplomatic service is set to play a pivotal role in addressing global conflicts in 2025, with a particular focus on the ongoing crises in Ukraine and the Middle East.
This commitment was outlined by Spain’s Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares Bueno, as he addressed a conference for Spanish ambassadors, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Albares emphasized that the year 2025 will be a critical period for peace, democracy, and justice, urging Spanish diplomacy to focus on resolving conflicts and fostering a just peace in the affected regions.
"In 2025, Spanish diplomacy must contribute to ending conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East so that this just peace replaces weapons and destruction," he stated.
The minister also highlighted the importance of Ukraine’s role in determining its own future, underscoring that no decisions about the country’s fate should be made without its input.
"Nothing regarding Ukraine should and cannot be decided without Ukraine, and nothing regarding European security can be decided without Europe," Albares remarked, reinforcing Spain’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and its position within the European security framework.
Spain’s diplomatic efforts in 2025 will aim to strengthen international peace initiatives, contributing to efforts to resolve conflicts and promote stability in these volatile regions.
