Special working group on development of Middle Corridor established in Geneva
A special working group has been established by the countries involved in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor) to be seated in Geneva.
This development was announced by the Deputy Economy Minister of Azerbaijan, Elnur Aliyev, during the 71st session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Caliber.Az reports citing the ministry's corresponding statement.
According to the document, Aliyev read a joint statement on behalf of the involved countries, including Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary. The statement emphasized the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor in connecting Asia with Europe.
The goal of the working group, which consists of delegates from the above-mentioned countries' permanent missions seated in Geneva, is to promote the international development of the route, accelerate the transition to green energy, expand trade, and digitize transport processes.
The UNECE session featured panel discussions, roundtables, and high-level dialogues aimed at finding innovative solutions for sustainable development and climate issues.
