Suspected defector arriving from Istanbul detained in Armenia

A 22-year-old serviceman suspected of desertion has been detained at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport, Report informs with reference to Armenian media.

The law enforcement bodies said that he arrived in Yerevan on October 20 at 04.00 on a flight from Istanbul. It turned out that since October 2 he has been wanted on suspicion of "unauthorised abandonment of military unit (or place of service) or untimely return to the place of service".

As a preliminary measure of restraint, he was taken on his own recognisance.
