Russia set to tighten migration rules with new medical and legal requirements
Russia is preparing to tighten its migration policy, with new legislative initiatives expected to be submitted to the State Duma in the near future, according to Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
The information was reported by the Telegram channel “Earlier Than Everyone. Well, Almost.”
Under the proposed changes, the timeframe for mandatory medical examinations for all foreign nationals staying in Russia for longer than three months would be reduced from the current 90 days to 30.
Medical institutions would also be required to report their findings to the Interior Ministry and notify Rospotrebnadzor in cases where infectious diseases are detected, allowing authorities to carry out expedited deportations when necessary.
The planned measures further include the introduction of administrative penalties for failing to undergo the required medical examination, with sanctions ranging from fines to possible expulsion by court order.
Lawmakers are also considering imposing strict criminal liability for the falsification or distribution of documents certifying the absence of dangerous diseases.
