NATO’s actions signal preparations for war – Russian Foreign Ministry
NATO’s actions and rhetoric indicate that the alliance is preparing for war with Moscow, Alexander Grushko, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, has claimed, pointing to the description of Russia as a threat in European Union and NATO documents as evidence.
“These are military programs, the focus of military exercises, the development of military logistics on the eastern flank... They (NATO) are moving toward a military confrontation with Russia,” Grushko said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
On August 25, CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited Moscow. The Wall Street Journal reported that during his visit, he warned Russian officials against attacking NATO member states.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, however, maintains that it is NATO that is preparing for war. According to Bloomberg, European officials remain sceptical of reports about the risk of a war between Russia and NATO.
