Tbilisi set to dispel all misconceptions about Georgia at UN session
President Salome Zurabishvili has stated that Ukraine will be the main focus of the upcoming UN General Assembly session, and Georgia must dispel all misconceptions about itself.
The [UN] General Assembly will be held at the United Nations in three weeks. It seems that the prime minister intends to present Georgia there. The main issue will be Ukraine and we must dispel all the doubts that have been created about us, Interpress quotes Zurabishvili as telling a briefing.
According to Salome Zurabishvili, in the coming days, it should be clear whether Georgia wants to be perceived as a country that is part of the European family and European values.
"What the PM is tasked with is to present a plan about the implementation of the 12 recommendations, or some main part of the recommendations. We should prove to our partners in Brussels that Georgia is seriously on this path, there is no other alternative.
After the EU Association Council, the UN General Assembly will be held in three weeks. It seems that the Prime Minister intends to present Georgia there. The main issue there will be Ukraine, and there we must dispel all the doubts that have been created about us. Can we show solidarity or not? Solidarity does not mean a second front or joining the war. Solidarity is something that Georgia knows very well when a friend is at war, or in battle. Solidarity means that we should not criticize them and that we should stand morally by their side. No one is asking anything else from us, not even additional sanctions, this is a lie. No one is trying to involve us in anything," she said.
According to her, everyone is responsible for the above, but the government bears the primary responsibility.
"The population, society and I are watching what will happen and no one will forgive anyone for missing this chance," Zurabishvili said.
