Tehran to name key site after Khamenei, council says

Tehran authorities are preparing to name a major and “key” location in the capital after the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, a spokesperson for the city council stated.

Alireza Nadali said the initiative would represent one of the most significant naming decisions undertaken in recent years, reflecting the importance of the figure being commemorated, Iran International reports.

“At present, various streets and locations have been proposed and are being examined by the city council,” he said.

Officials have not yet disclosed which specific site will be selected, but Nadali indicated that multiple prominent options remain under consideration. The final decision is expected to be announced in the near future.
