Tesla delivers first Cybertrucks four years after debut
E-car manufacturer Tesla has delivered its first Cybertrucks to customers at an event held at its gigafactory in Austin, Texas, four years after the vehicle's initial debut.
During the live-streamed event, Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, drove the Cybertruck on stage, emphasizing its uniqueness and futuristic design, the Verge reported.
The Cybertruck is positioned to compete in the lucrative segment of the US car market dominated by Ford, General Motors, and Ram's Stellantis.
Initially priced at $39,990 when unveiled in 2019, Tesla announced that the Cybertruck would now start at $60,990. Customers had reserved the Cybertruck with a $100 deposit, and Musk revealed in a conference call last month that over one million reservations had been made for the vehicle.
The company warned its eager fans, though, that mass production of the model's next 250,000 units would occur “sometime in 2025".
