The Atlantic report alleges alcohol abuse by FBI Director Kash Patel
The Atlantic has published a report containing allegations about the behaviour of FBI Director Kash Patel, in which, citing sources, it claims possible alcohol abuse and workplace incidents.
Patel himself has categorically denied the allegations and stated his intention to file a lawsuit.
According to the publication, which cites current and former US officials, Patel has allegedly been seen intoxicated on multiple occasions at private venues in Washington and Las Vegas. It is also claimed that in some cases his morning meetings were postponed due to late-night events.
The article states that there were allegedly difficulties for security staff in accessing his residence in certain situations, although no official confirmation of these episodes has been provided. It is also noted that within the administration, possible consequences of such reports for his work were discussed, but these claims are also based on anonymous sources.
The White House stated that Patel remains a key member of the law enforcement team. The FBI press office, in turn, strongly rejected the allegations, calling them false, and confirmed that the FBI Director intends to seek legal retraction in court.
According to The Atlantic, potential candidates to replace Patel are allegedly already being discussed within the US administration, although no official decisions have been announced.
