Tiger Woods becomes world's third billionaire athlete
American Forbes estimated the fortune of the world's highest-paid golfer, 46-year-old Tiger Woods, at "at least $1 billion." It is noted that 90% of the capital Mr. Woods earned off the field. Thus, the athlete became the third billionaire in the history of professional sports after basketball players LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
Tiger Woods' career spans 27 years. He has won the Majors tournament 15 times. In May 2019, athlete Woods was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump. He became the fourth golfer to receive the award.
Currently, less than 10 per cent of Woods' career earnings and net worth comes from golf winnings. The bulk of his fortune comes from advertising contracts with more than a dozen brands, including Gatorade, Monster Energy, TaylorMade, Rolex and Nike.
