Top cleric urges Iran to thoroughly probe Azerbaijani embassy terror attack
The chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Allahshukur Pashazade, has urged to thoroughly investigate a deadly terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran on January 27.
He made the remarks in an interview with Report on January 30.
"We brought a martyr from Iran, which we considered fraternal. Now we know that they are not our brothers, they are Armenia's brothers. As President Ilham Aliyev stated, the event that happened is a terrorist attack. The matter should be thoroughly investigated and the world should know the truth," he said.
Pashazade added that Azerbaijan had condemned the attack in Iran.
"We condemn the terrorist attack at the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran. Today, representatives of all religions in our country expressed their condolences. This demonstrates the existence of tolerance and national unity in Azerbaijan," he said.
Pashazade stressed that about 40 million Azerbaijanis live in Iran, who suffer from the regime in the country, Report said.
