Trump announces no US officials to attend G20 summit in South Africa
US President Donald Trump announced that no representatives from the United States will attend this year’s G20 summit in South Africa, citing the ongoing killings and persecution of white Afrikaners in the country.
Trump made the statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, highlighting what he described as “illegal confiscation” of Afrikaner lands and farms, and calling the situation a “total disgrace,” Caliber.Az reports.
“It is a total disgrace that the G20 will be held in South Africa. Afrikaners (People who are descended from Dutch settlers, and also French and German immigrants) are being killed and slaughtered, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated. No U.S. Government Official will attend as long as these Human Rights abuses continue. I look forward to hosting the 2026 G20 in Miami, Florida!” Trump wrote.
Earlier, Trump had stated that he would not personally attend the summit, with expectations that Vice President J.D. Vance would represent the United States.
