Trump remains “deeply involved” in Ukraine peace efforts, White House says
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on January 26 that US President Donald Trump remains “deeply involved” in efforts to advance peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, though she did not provide details on any upcoming calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Leavitt’s comments came days after a rare three-way meeting in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24 involving US, Ukrainian, and Russian officials. American officials described the negotiations, held on background, as “constructive” and “unexpectedly fluid," Caliber.Az reports.
“The President remains deeply involved and of course he is being apprised by his advisors, namely Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Witkoff on these talks," Leavitt told reporters.

When asked about potential future diplomatic communications, Leavitt said she was not tracking any scheduled calls between Trump and either Putin or Zelenskyy at this time.
Leavitt emphasised that Trump is “not giving up” on efforts to facilitate peace and highlighted the Abu Dhabi talks as a demonstration of continued US engagement in the conflict.
