Trump’s administration sends Venezuelan migrants to Guantanamo Bay
The Trump administration has sent another group of migrants to Guantanamo Bay, with claims from officials that many of the individuals are affiliated with the Venezuelan gang Tren De Aragua.
An official confirmed that 21 individuals were transported to the military base as they await deportation, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The official further mentioned that deportation flights are being conducted daily, with more migrants expected to be sent to Guantanamo Bay in the coming days.
However, the administration has not provided any concrete evidence linking these detainees to the alleged criminal gang, Tren De Aragua. While the exact reasons behind the decision to send migrants to Guantanamo remain unclear, it has sparked concern about the conditions at the facility.
Former detainees at Guantanamo Bay have previously described the environment as cramped and deteriorating. Allegations include being allowed outdoors only twice during their two-week stays, along with claims of being denied access to legal counsel. Earlier, US authorities reported that the first group of 10 high-risk illegal migrants had arrived at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base.
The US Department of Defense, in coordination with other agencies, plans to expedite the process of deporting these migrants. Additionally, it has been revealed that the conversion of a golf course at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base will create space to accommodate up to 6,000 illegal migrants.
