Trump threatens countries he says have exploited US Terrible things ahead
US President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that a recent Supreme Court ruling has “accidentally” granted him new powers to retaliate against countries he claims have “ripped us off for many decades.”
Trump, reacting nearly three days after the court struck down some of his sweeping tariffs, described the decision as “ridiculous, dumb, and very internationally divisive ruling” and suggested it gives him legal certainty to use trade licenses and other tariffs more aggressively.
“I can use Licenses to do absolutely ‘terrible’ things to foreign countries, especially those countries that have been RIPPING US OFF for many decades,” he wrote.
The president added that “the court has also approved all other Tariffs, of which there are many, and they can all be used in a much more powerful and obnoxious way, with legal certainty, than the Tariffs as initially used.”
Trump criticized the justices who voted against him, calling the Supreme Court “incompetent” for helping “the wrong people” while singling out three conservative justices as exempt from his ire: “Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!).”
