Trump urges US companies to move production back to country
American companies, including Apple, are moving production back to the country due to the tightening of tariff policy of the United States, as announced by US President Donald Trump on his social network, Truth Social.
“This is a GREAT time to move your COMPANY into the United States of America, like Apple, and so many others, in record numbers, are doing. ZERO TARIFFS, and almost immediate Electrical/Energy hook ups and approvals. No Environmental Delays. DON’T WAIT, DO IT NOW!” Caliber.Az quotes Trump as saying in his post.
On April 2, President Donald Trump introduced a series of "reciprocal tariffs" aimed at addressing perceived trade imbalances between the United States and its trading partners. These tariffs include a baseline 10% duty on all imports, with higher rates for specific countries based on factors such as existing tariffs, trade deficits, and other trade barriers.
The trade tensions between the United States and China have intensified significantly in recent days, with both nations implementing substantial tariff increases. On April 8, 2025, President Donald Trump amended an executive order to raise tariffs on Chinese imports to a total of 104%. This action was a response to China's earlier imposition of a 34% duty on U.S. goods. The new U.S. tariffs include a 50% tariff on top of previous duties and a significant hike on duties for low-value items under $800, increasing from 30% to 90%.
In retaliation, China announced on April 9, 2025, that it would raise tariffs on U.S. imports to 84%, effective April 10. These tariffs target U.S. products such as soybeans, diamonds, and poultry, affecting approximately $23 billion worth of goods. China also filed a complaint against the U.S. at the World Trade Organization and imposed additional restrictions on American companies, including placing 11 firms on its "unreliable entities" list.
