A Ukrainian maritime drone discovered on September 30 by fishermen off the coast of Trabzon was destroyed on the morning of October 1.
An explosives disposal team from the provincial Gendarmerie Command, alongside a SAS unit from the Turkish Naval Command, inspected the area where the unmanned vessel – identified as a MAGURA V5 maritime drone – had been brought ashore earlier in the day, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The drone, towed into the Black Sea by a Turkish Coast Guard vessel, was neutralised through a controlled detonation.

The maritime drone was towed to port, with security measures put in place. Units from the Turkish Naval Forces Command (SAS) and other security agencies were notified.
Preliminary investigations suggest the vessel could be a Ukrainian MAGURA V5. The drone measures approximately 5.5–6 metres in length and is capable of cruising at 22 knots, with a maximum speed of 42 knots.
Designed with low radar visibility and reduced thermal signature, the MAGURA V5 can operate up to 800 kilometres from its launch point. It is typically deployed in kamikaze-style attacks and can carry up to 320 kilograms of explosives.
