Turkish MP highlights double standards on Azerbaijan in PACE debate
Turkish parliamentarian Zeynep Yıldız has raised concerns about double standards in international responses to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity during the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"When Karabakh was under Armenian occupation, many statements were made affirming that Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory. Why are there no similar statements today, after Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity? We must acknowledge that there is a difference in approaches," Yıldız said highlighting the inconsistency in positions.
She also stressed the importance of reinstating the Azerbaijani delegation's credentials and its return to PACE.
"In the absence of Azerbaijan's delegation, various allegations are being made against the country, which violates the principle of dialogue and is unjust."
Yıldız further noted that applying double standards to member states undermines the authority of PACE and limits its influence within continental borders.
