Türkiye announces need for several Akkuyu-type nuclear power plants
Ankara will need several more nuclear power plants, such as the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, to meet the rapidly growing demand for energy.
The head of the Turkish Nuclear Industry Association, Alikaan Ciftci, made the remarks on June 9 at the International Summit on Nuclear Power Plants NPPSE-2022 in Istanbul, TASS reports.
"Currently, the construction of 51 reactors in 19 countries, including Türkiye, continues in the world. According to our estimates, by 2050, global investments in nuclear energy production will exceed $100 billion per year on average. Apparently, Türkiye will need several more power plants, such as the Akkuyu NPP, to meet the rapidly growing demand for energy and ensure its sustainable development," the Dünya newspaper quotes the head of the association.
