Türkiye detains over 50 offenders as part of Operation Kuyu-8 VIDEO

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that Operation Kuyu-8 targeted organized crime groups across 25 provinces.

“As part of this operation, 54 individuals, including well-known bloggers Neslihan and Inanc Gungen, were detained on suspicion of forming a criminal organisation, committing fraud, money laundering, falsifying official documents, and related offenses in Istanbul, Adiyaman, Ankara, Antalya, Aydin, Batman, Bursa, Canakkale, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Karabuk, Kars, Kirklareli, Kirsehir, Kocaeli, Kutahya, Malatya, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sanliurfa, and Tekirdag,” Caliber.Az reports citing the minister’s message on X.

“As a result of the search operations, a significant quantity of drugs, cosmetic products, medical supplies, fake documents, and a substantial amount of money were seized,” the message says.

Earlier, Yerlikaya announced that an organised crime syndicate was destroyed.

The gang was destroyed within the Mahzen-48 operation in Izmir, there are nine suspects.

The operation, conducted by the Izmir Provincial Police Department's Organised Crime Unit, targeted suspects involved in crimes such as forming a criminal organisation, intentional injury, violating Law No. 6136, and armed threats.

The operation led to the seizure of five unlicensed pistols, six unlicensed rifles, and various illegal drugs.

"We are determined to clean our country from organised crime groups and gangs. We will destroy organised crime syndicates of any size and bring them to justice," Yerlikaya stated.
