Türkiye, Spain sign agreement for joint production of Hürjet aircraft
Türkiye and Spain have officially announced an agreement on the supply and joint production of Hürjet training aircraft developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) in partnership with Airbus.
Head of Türkiye’s Defence Industries Agency Haluk Görgün said the agreement has been “officially announced to the world” and will mark the beginning of a new phase of strategic cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
According to him, part of the aircraft will be produced in Türkiye and part in Spain.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028, with the aircraft to be integrated into training programs in 2029–2030.
Spain is set to receive around 30 units by 2035.
The project is also expected to create approximately 2,500 jobs.
Spain’s Ministry of Defence said the Hürjet aircraft will replace ageing F-5 trainers and form part of a broader transition toward a more modern and autonomous defence system.
The project could serve as a model for NATO countries and open opportunities for joint development and export of defence equipment to third-country markets.
