Türkiye starts new phase of Eren Abluka anti-terrorist operations
In the province of Siirt in southeastern Türkiye, the sixteenth round of the autumn-winter phase of anti-terrorist operations, codenamed Eren Abluka, has been kicked off.
Some 37 groups of law enforcement officers, consisting of 533 servicemen, including gendarmerie and police special forces, are participating in the new phase of the operation, Anadolu reports.
The Eren Abluka operations are aimed at the complete elimination of the threat of terrorism in Türkiye.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier that since 1984, when the PKK militants carried out the first terrorist attack in Türkiye, thousands of members of the Turkish security forces, military and civilians have been killed by this bloody organisation.
The United States and the European Union have designated the PKK as a terrorist organization.
