UKMTO reports small vessel approaching tanker near Yemen's Socotra

A small vessel carrying five individuals approached a product tanker within 200 nautical miles west of Socotra, Yemen, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations.

UKMTO reported that the incident occurred when the small craft closed in on the tanker to a distance of approximately 100 meters.

The captain of the product tanker alerted authorities, stating that the approaching vessel had five people on board. In response, the tanker’s armed security team was activated.

Following this, the small vessel altered its course and moved away from the tanker, bringing the situation to a close without further escalation.
