Ukraine detains young girl for helping Russia plot attack on power plant in Kropyvnytskyi PHOTO
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a 16-year-old resident of Kropyvnytskyi who, acting on instructions from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), installed a GPS tracker to facilitate a missile strike on a local thermal power plant (TPP).
The Kirovohrad region's state administration confirmed the case on its Telegram channel on January 7, Caliber.Az reports.
The girl was tasked with disguising the device under snow on the territory of the TPP so that Russian forces could strike the facility and leave the city without electricity and heating.
The saboteur was caught “red-handed” while attempting to activate the tracker near the TPP’s fence at night. The investigation established that she had been recruited via a Telegram channel offering “easy money.” Initially, she was instructed to film military and critical infrastructure sites, and later received orders to prepare a missile strike on the TPP.
She received money from Russia to purchase the GPS tracker, which was transferred to her bank card. The device was ordered online and collected from a post office.
During searches, officers seized a smartphone containing evidence of her cooperation with the FSB. She has been charged with high treason committed under martial law. The suspect is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
