Ukraine expands drone forces along Belarus border, army chief says
Ukraine is establishing new unmanned aerial systems (UAV) formations along its border with Belarus, while simultaneously reinforcing existing units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces deployed in the region.
Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi made the announcement on his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
“Special attention was paid to strengthening the defence of the state border in the northern direction. To improve the effectiveness of border coverage, a decision was made to form new units of unmanned systems,” Syrskyi wrote on Telegram.
He added that the new formations will be fully equipped to carry out assigned operational tasks.
“They will be equipped with the necessary weapons, equipment, and other resources to carry out assigned tasks,” he said. “At the same time, we continue to enhance the capabilities of the units that are already operating in this area.”
