Ukraine fact-checkers release video claiming Dnipro missile not shot down VIDEO
New video footage released by a Ukrainian fact-checking organisation confirms that a Russian missile that hit an apartment block in Ukraine’s Dnipro on 14 January was not shot down by the Ukrainian air defence.
In a dashcam video, the rocket is seen to fall down on the building intact without any fireball that might be caused as a result of an air defence strike. The missile offensive on January 14 killed 44 people and injured 79.
In a series of tweets on 17 January, StopFake said that the slowed-motion video reveals the missile hit the building and cause an explosion. The dashcam video was first posted on the Dnepr Operative Telegram channel on 16 January, as was the original video the following day.
"There are no other explosions that preceded it and could indicate the work of Ukrainian air defence," it said. "Kremlin propaganda continues to spread disinformation that the Russian missile that struck a tower block in Dnipro on 15 January was diverted from its course by Ukrainian air defence."
The video was filmed by a video recorder from inside a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Kosmichna Street and Naberezhna Peremohy Street, it said. The missile-hit building is located at Naberzhna Pobedy 118.
In the meantime, On 17 January, the Ukrainian presidential office accepted the resignation of adviser Oleksiy Arestovych following his remark claiming the neutralization of the Russian missile by the Ukraine air defence over Dnipro.
