Ukraine pledges to support Syria's stabilization after Assad regime's fall
Ukraine has committed to assisting in the stabilization of Syria following the expected collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. As part of this effort, Ukrainian grain will be supplied to Syria to support the local population.
In a recent meeting on Syria, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received briefings from Ukraine’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Agricultural Policy regarding their recent visit to Syria. The discussions focused on the results of the talks held in Damascus, as well as the security and economic prospects for Syria moving forward, Caliber.Az reports.
“I received a report from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine regarding their visit to Syria. The outcomes of the Damascus talks, along with security and economic prospects,” President Zelenskyy shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The Ukrainian president emphasized that Ukraine would contribute to all efforts aimed at stabilizing Syria. "We will set up the 'Grain from Ukraine' program to cooperate with the Syrian administration and all interested partners," he stated. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine would coordinate with European countries and the United States to ensure that Syria receives maximum international support.
"More stability in the Middle East means more peace and trade for all partners," he concluded, reinforcing Ukraine’s commitment to fostering regional stability.
