Ukraine receives Combat Boat 90s from Sweden and Norway
The Ukrainian military has received modern Combat Boat 90 boats from Sweden and Norway, the Ukrainian Navy announced.
In a post on its Telegram page, the Navy said that such boats are already in service with the fleet and that a full division has now been formed based on this equipment, Caliber.Az reports.
Combat Boat 90s rank among the world’s top military vessels and are operated by numerous countries, including NATO members. Known for their speed, agility, and reliability, these boats are designed to carry out a wide range of missions — from amphibious landings and coastal defence to patrol operations and the protection of civilian shipping.
Built to meet the demands of modern naval warfare, the boats are equipped with advanced systems, while their crews receive extensive training to fully exploit the vessels’ capabilities. Developed by the Swedish company Dockstavarvet, part of Saab, the Combat Boat 90 is a high-speed armoured landing craft priced at around $2.62 million per unit.
Thanks to its lightweight design, shallow draft, and twin water-jet propulsion, the vessel can reach speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) in coastal waters and carry 21 fully equipped soldiers or 4.5 tons of cargo. The reinforced wheelhouse accommodates two operators and includes an additional folding swivel seat.
For the first time in NATO’s history, the Navy planned, coordinated, and commanded opposing forces during the REPMUS/Dynamic Messenger 25 exercises held in Portugal.
