Ukraine rejects Türkiye's proposal to protect nuclear facilities Despite Putin’s support
Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has revealed that Ukrainian authorities declined Türkiye's proposal to refrain from attacking nuclear power facilities.
Shoigu stated that the Turkish initiative, which also included avoiding attacks on energy infrastructure and commercial vessels in the Black Sea, received support from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Shoigu explained that Türkiye had proposed the agreement as a measure to prevent escalations, particularly concerning nuclear power plants.
Despite Russia’s readiness to move forward with the proposal, Kyiv reportedly refused to accept the terms. Shoigu further commented on the significance of nuclear safety, referencing the Kursk submarine incident as a pivotal moment in understanding the implications of such facilities.
