Ukrainian centre for displaced persons opens in Lithuania
The opening of the first Ukrainian centre in the EU for people who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the invasion of Russian troops took place in Vilnius.
The main purpose of creating such a centre will be career guidance, psychological assistance, and recreation for children and adults who have left Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the Ukrainian presidential office.
"Here it will be possible to leave the kids for extracurricular activities, attend lectures, educational courses or devote time to hobbies," the presidential office said.
It should be noted that the migrant centre was established in one of the buildings of Vytautas the Great University. At the ceremony, the symbolic ribbon was cut by the First Lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausedene, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Lithuania, Petr Beshta, and the university's rector, Juozas Augutis.
"Former Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine Algirdas Kumzha, the head of the Ukrainian Centre in Vilnius, was a signatory to Lithuania's Act of Independence," the presidential office said.
