Ukrainian court orders detention of President Zelenskyy’s close ally

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has ordered the detention of former Deputy Prime Minister and ex-Minister for National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is a close friend and godfather to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Chernyshov has been remanded in custody for two months, with the option of bail, until January 16, 2026, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media. 

The bail has been set at 51.6 million hryvnias ($1.2 million).

“[To apply] a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days,” the judge announced while reading the court’s decision.
