Ukrainian drones strike Syzran oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region PHOTO

Ukrainian drones attacked the Syzran Oil Refinery, one of the largest refining facilities in the region, according to Ukrainian officials.

Media outlet RBC-Ukraine cited Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, as saying multiple explosions were heard in the city of Syzran.

According to Kovalenko, a column of dense smoke was seen rising above the refinery following the blasts. “A series of explosions was heard in Syzran. A column of thick smoke rose above the facility,” he said.

There was no immediate official comment from Russian authorities on the extent of any damage.

The refinery is operated by Rosneft and plays a significant role in regional fuel production.

The Syzran facility has been targeted multiple times in previous drone attacks. Strikes were reported in December 2025 and again in March, April and July 2026, underscoring a pattern of repeated incidents affecting the site.
