Ukrainian FM offers President Zelenskyy to break off diplomatic ties with Iran
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine may break off diplomatic relations with Iran at any time, depending on Tehran's behavior.
“I have no idea who was behind the explosions at Iranian plants that occurred in late January,” Kuleba said in an interview with BBC News Ukraine.
He added that Ukraine has historically done nothing bad to Iran while Iran began supplying kamikaze drones to Russia for aggression against Ukraine.
Kuleba stressed that Iran has crossed the line.
“This is our signal to Iran. No matter how beneficial cooperation with Russia against Ukraine may seem to you, we assure you that the negative consequences of this cooperation will exceed any benefit by many times. It is up to Iran how to act,” the minister said.
Kuleba also noted that he offered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to sever diplomatic relations with Iran and this question is absolutely open.
"The decision can be made at any moment depending on Iran’s further behavior," he added.
Explosions were heard at several strategic facilities in Iran on January 29 night. The Iranian Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics claims that the attack was carried out via drones. In particular, there was an explosion at a plant warehouse with ammunition in Isfahan.
ISW analysts note that the explosions in Iran are not related to the Israeli intelligence operation to destroy a defence plant for the production of ballistic missiles and drones.
Spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ihnat noted that the events in Iran demonstrate the consequences of the policy of its leadership.
